Skin to Sea 03:45
<Section 1> Thinkin’ of a season That will never turn to earth again Searchin’ for the reason They pull a flower from the soil And I don't know That I’ll ever know your face again And I don't know That we could ever shake the feeling That we only live to leave It's the only way we could ever be Skin, to sand, to sea Is the only way we could ever be <Section 2> Sitting on a throne so free You just come and go as you please And I don’t know If the rain could ever drown the sea And I dont know now, I don’t know <Bridge> You were the world You were the world You were a world away You were a world away <Outro> All your words and your memories, Memories that I just can’t reach (Oh, why can’t I?) All your words and your memories, They’re just skin, to sand, to sea (I know I let you down, but I'll never let you go)

Empire 03:52
Where you gonna run? When your empire burns When the big wheel turns ‘round, tonight And where you gonna be? When your empire falls Funeral guns they fire At the myth of it all And how you gonna feel? When your empire’s gone Sitting alone now In your cities of dust And who you gonna call? When your empire falls We can’t hear you We don’t feel you now And will you ever see the light? Or are you blinded by the herd and the lies? You’ll only ever learn When your empire burns Well we can’t hear you now Tonight • So, where are you now? Where are you now? When it all comes crashing down Where would you go? Where would you go? When it all comes crashing down Can’t hear you now And now... The nation wants to know

I feel a silent thunder Coming through and over you Break down; spilling over Falling through without reprove Trippin' up on everything we're Unravelling with the world This strange hesitation Can't speak when tongues are pulled And all I hear is the sound Of a distant memory This delicate surrender Is washing over me A wicked blow it left you dry Spilt the wine and soiled the sheet Woke the boy and fed the beast From who we were to where we've come In that falling sun and rising tide We held our feelings to the fire Inside out, inside now Leaving all the hurt aside Searching for the other kind Inside out, here and now Burning all you left behind Turning to another time And all I hear is the sound Of a distant memory This delicate surrender Comes washing over me And here we are You and I Holding on And here we are You and I

Lovesong for an Apocalypse In the morning light Where the seagulls fly Is where you will find me With all our yesterdays When the sea has turned And the rivers burn When the sirens ring Will you wait there for me? And you know we’re never going back “Can we make it through?” I hear you say Will we fall in the fight? Can we keep it alive till it's coming through? In this waking dream we’re stalling Great divides are falling By the side It’s your guess or mine Weak and weary Can you even hear me? If there’s nothing more to say And nothing more to do? And you know we’re never going back “Can we make it through?” I hear you say And we fall and we fight And we keep it alive till it's coming through Because the one thing that I know Is that the centre will not hold And the only thing we need Are the feelings that we’re holding dear Don’t leave me here alone In fear, at the end Fading, fading, I'm fading away I'm waiting, I'm waiting, I'm watching, We’re fading I'm waiting, I'm waiting, I'm waiting I'm watching, keep fading, keep fading I'm fading, I'm fading away Gotta keep, keep it together Gotta keep, keep it together Because the one thing that I know Is that the centre will not hold And the only thing we need Are the feelings that we’re holding dear Don’t leave me here alone Because the one thing that I know Is that the centre will not hold And the only thing we need Are the feelings that we’re holding dear I won't leave you here alone In fear, at the end

Bridge 03:42
Will we ever feel the sun now, will we? Will we ever feel the sun now on our skin? Our skin Will we ever learn to love now, will we? Will we ever learn to love again? Again Will we ever learn to heal the difference? Will we ever learn to heal these differences? Will we ever feel the sun now, will we? Will we ever feel the sun now on our skin? Our skin Will we ever get to bridge the distance? Will we ever get to bridge these distances? These distances

about

‘How the Mighty Will Fall’ is the debut EP by the indie rock act Long Distances.

Existing at the intersections of genres such as post-punk, shoegaze, dreampop and synthpop, the band conjures up a sonic and emotional landscape that is at once familiar and yet very much grounded in the contemporary context.

Each song pushes the band’s sound in different directions, while holding on to some common threads: catchy leads, gritty rhythms, juicy synths, driving bass, pounding drums and dreamy vocals that complete the sound as their own instrument.

These are not songs that exist as an escape, but engage with the world we live in today. ‘How the Mighty Will Fall’ takes the listener on a journey that explores themes of loss, longing, disappointment, grief, acceptance
and resistance.
